Marty Allen Proctor, 71

Marty Allen Proctor, 71, of Thornton, passed away Saturday, October 16, 2021 surrounded by his loving family at home.
A Funeral Service will be held 10:30 am Thursday, October 21, 2021 at Richland Lutheran Church, 300 Elm Street, Thornton, with Rev. Robert Harting officiating.  Following the service burial will be at the Richland Church Cemetery, Thornton.
Visitation was held 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at Richland Lutheran Church, 300 Elm Street, Thornton.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family and a charity will be established at a later date.
Marty Proctor was born April 8, 1950 in Mason City, son of Thomas and Laurine (Parks) Proctor.  Marty graduated from Meservey Thornton High School, class of 1968.  After high school, he started working for Local 55 as a Lineman, until he started his own electrical business, Proctor Electric for many years.  Prior to his retirement, he worked at Sukup Manufacturing in Sheffield.  
Marty was united in marriage to Shirley Stadtlander on August 14, 1970 at the First Reformed Church in Meservey, and to this union two children were born, Matthew and Amy.
Marty was member of the Richland Lutheran Church, volunteer fireman in Thornton, and served as chief from 1978 to 1981.     
Marty enjoyed watching his westerns and talk shows.  He loved spending time with his family and going to his grandchildren’s events.  
Marty is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Shirley Proctor of Thornton; two children, Matthew (Janet) Proctor of Swaledale and Amy (Chad) Slagle of Algona; three grandchildren, Jordan (Jacob) Mitchell, Spencer Proctor and Tate Slagle; sister, Linda (Ardell) Van Osten; two brothers, Marvin (Jane) Proctor and Duane (Jewel) Proctor; two brother in-law, Larry Stadtlander and Dean (Renae) Stadtlander; two sister in-law, Bev Stadtlander, Brenda (John) Bracklein and many nieces and nephews.
Marty is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Laurine Proctor; father and mother in-law, Louis and Gert Stadtlander; grandson, Zak Slagle; sister in-law, Connie Stadtlander; brother in-law, Richard Stadtlander.
