West Fork freshman steps up

CLEAR LAKE – Noah Maske knew his senior teammate was hurting.

So, the freshman for West Fork did what he could, trying to make up for that by putting on a strong finish in the Clear Lake Invitational at Clear Lake Baptist Camp to lead the Warhawks to their eighth-place team finish.

“I saw that Connor (Schulz) was dropping back because he was hurting a little,” Maske said, “so I knew I had to get up there, pick some people off and give the team a chance.”

Maske was the first area varsity boys’ runner across the line on a rare hot day as of late. He finished in 19 minutes, 46 seconds, good for 36th overall.
