West Fork can’t overcome slow start

SHEFFIELD — Sure, West Fork long-time coach Frank Schnoes didn’t like the way his team shot the ball to start, but he was even more disappointed in the way it defended on Friday, Jan. 11.

The offense (16 percent from the field in the first half) combined with its defense led to a 63-56 loss to Rockford despite a concerted second half effort to rally.

“I think we shot 16 percent (in the first half),” Schnoes said. “But the defensive intensity was similar to what it was like against Lake Mills on Saturday. You’d think the guys would learn after Saturday that you can’t give a half-hearted effort on defense, letting guys drive into the lane for lay-up after lay-up.”
