Weaver wins two TIC East titles, attempts back-to-back events

GREENE – A rare feat indeed, West Fork senior distance runner Kenna Weaver tried to do the nearly impossible: run the 400 hurdles and then turn around in the very next event to run the 1,500.

She won the 400 hurdles, helping the Warhawks to go 1-2 in the event as Makia Fessler was the runner-up in the Top of Iowa East Conference meet.

But the 1,500 didn’t go Weaver’s way as she finished seventh and missed out on a medal.

“Well, we wanted to see if it was possible to do at districts, no better way than trying it out and come to find out it is not possible for me,” Weaver said. “It’s just not physically possible. Mentally, tried as hard as I could and physically, it’s just not there..."
