Thornton Reviews Housing Program; Seeks Mosquito Control

The Thornton City Council met for their regular meeting on Monday, April 8 at City Hall.

     Dana Heimbuch of NIACOG was present at the meeting to update the council about the results of the CDBG Housing Rehabilitation program.

     The city applied to the program in 2010, asking for funds to renovate eight houses in Thornton. More than $200,000 was awarded, with the city throwing in matching funds of $16,000, to renovate selected homes in the city, including a ninth house that was renovated with the leftover funds.

     "That's kind of a freebie almost," said Heimbuch.
