Swaledale Works On Nuisance Properties

The Swaledale City Council discussed the ongoing issues with nuisance properties during the regular meeting on Monday, March 9.

     At the meeting, Mayor John Drury reported to the council that he has approached the Cerro Gordo County Board of Supervisors with a request for financial assistance in cleaning up nuisance properties in small towns. Due to the impact the cost of demolition and clean-up can have on a small city budget, Drury stated that he felt county assistance would be appropriate considering the large sums that have been contributed to Mason City projects.

     One such demolition approaching is the burning of the abandoned house at 103 6th Street.
