Swaledale man dies at tractor plowing contest

Lifelong agriculture enthusiast killed at Prairie Homestead Antique Power Show in Belmond

 

     A Swaledale man died Thursday morning doing what he loved; participating in Iowa agriculture.

     Jim (John James) Quinlan, 75, was run over by his tractor after falling off when he reportedly may have suffered a heart attack. He was taking part in the Iowa State Plowing Contest at the Prairie Homestead Antique Power Show in Belmond.

     Show manager Dave Nelson said Quinlan was an agriculture enthusiast who had competed in the plowing contest for decades.
