Strike wraps up successful career at West Fork

Darrin Strike’s career as superintendent of the West Fort School District is coming to a successful end at the end of this month.

Strike will be commencing a career as a regional administrator for the Grant Wood Area Education Agency based out of Cedar Rapids.

“I will be working with a number of districts to make sure they are receiving the necessary AEA services and supports for students and to also assist them with working through state and federal compliance processes,” he said.

Strike graduated from Upper Iowa University in 1991 with a degree in Biology Education. He earned a degree in Educational Leadership from Drake University in 2000 and an Educational Specialist Degree from Drake University in 2000.

Strike taught middle school science and high school biology for eight years. He served as a secondary principal for four years and then as a school improvement /science consultant with AEA for three years. For the past 12 years he has been with the SCMT Community School District and West Fork as superintendent.

Why did Strike decide the enter school administration? “I had the opportunity to make a broader difference for students. The most fulfilling part of the job is providing opportunities for students and the continuous improvement process around teaching and learning. You work everyday to make the school and the learning process better tomorrow than it was today,” he said.
