Sheffield Lions Club holds duck race

The Sheffield Lion’s Club held their first ever duck race as a fundraiser for Lion’s organizations and the Sheffield club’s annual scholarships.

The race was held at the Ridge Stone Golf Club in Sheffield on Saturday June 18. It was orginally going to be ran from the C-13 bridge to Galvins Park in Sheffield, but due to the high water in Bailey Creek, race officials decided to hold it at the golf course.

The yellow rubber duckies were $5 a duck and the club sold 239 of the fowl. 50 percent of the proceeds went to the Iowa Lion’s Foundation and $100 went to the Lion’s Club International Foundation.  The remainder of the money will be used toward the Sheffield Lion’s annual scholarships they give out to West Fork seniors each year.
