Sheffield Economic Development Committee dismisses Iowa State University’s development assistance program with $1,500 price tag

The Sheffield Economic Development Committee took significant strides in its endeavor to enrich the community’s housing market at its monthly meeting last Tuesday, March 27.

The committee unanimously voted against Iowa State’s “Marketing Main Street” program, which would charge Sheffield between $1,500 and $2,000 to train local leaders and gather opinions from various demographical groups in the community over the course of three months. Experts from Iowa State would then develop the information into an action plan, and deliver it back to the committee in an additional three months.

Iowa State describes the program as a pilot study and has already partnered with 15 small, rural communities to conduct it.
