Sheffield couple exploring crops and cultivation

On an acreage just outside of Sheffield, a couple has embarked on an agricultural journey, and community members may have noted their progress at the Sheffield farmers’ market.

Ryan Lage, a graduate of Northeast Iowa Community College, has lived near Sheffield his whole life, and has an extensive history in farming.

“For as long as I can remember my family has farmed,” said Ryan.

A trail of fond memories from Ryan’s childhood inspired him to continue the legacy.

“Growing up, I was always eating fresh potatoes and sweet corn,” he explained. He’s not green to growing produce by any means, but has introduced his wife, Kelli, to the lifestyle.
