Sheffield council approves new police officers

At the meeting the council officially passed a resolution to hire Brad Gardner as the city’s new Chief of Police and Cody Brunstein as a secondary officer.

Gardner has been working for the last week, acclimating himself to the community and his new position.

“There’s a lot of work to do but we’re slowly but surely going to get there,” said Gardner.

Gardner says that he’s been working with the Sheriff’s Department to coordinate patrol schedules and has been tweaking the city’s order for a new police car. Though the city is set to purchase the car with next year’s budget, Gardner recommended they make their order sooner rather than later.

“It’s kind of crucial to put the order in now so we have it for July 1,” said Gardner.
