Sheffield apartment fire destroys complex

An apartment complex in Sheffield is a total loss after a fire ripped through the five units. Dan Fields, Sheffield Fire Chief, said his department got the call at 6 p.m. on Sunday, and when they arrived the Sunrise Homes apartment complex on S 2nd St in Sheffield was engulfed in flames. Fields said the building is a total loss. Four of the five apartments were occupied, and all residents got out safely, with one yet to be identified resident taken to Franklin General Hospital for non-life threatening injuries, Fields said. That resident stated it was a cooking related accident involving his stove. All other residents are staying with family at this time. The Sheffield Fire Department was on the scene for six hours on Sunday night extinguishing the flames, with assistance from the Sheffield Police Department, Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, Sheffield and Hampton EMS and the Rockwell and Hampton Fire Departments.
