Sheffield accepting bids for new shelter house; public hearing on proposed fire station scheduled

The Sheffield City Council will be accepting bids for its intended shelter house at City Park. Councilman JC McCaslin presented to the council an architectural rendering of what the council is looking for at the park at the council’s meeting on Oct. 9.

According to Sheffield City Clerk Katy Flint, the shelter house currently at the park is “bad, structurally.” The council will look to tear down the old shelter house and build it according to the rendering. The purpose of having the rendering was so that bidders would all be working off of the same plan. Bids are due to city hall by Thursday, Nov. 9 at 4:30 p.m.

In other news, the city has entered into a General Obligation Vehicle Loan Agreement that will allow public works to seek out a plow truck for purchase. Similarly, the council also entered into a General Obligation Water Improvement Loan and Disbursement Agreement that will allow the city to continue forward with its $1,318,284.20 contract with Wunsch Construction, Greene, for its water main replacement.
