Rockwell prepares for annual Chicken Barbecue

With the summer now already more than halfway over, Rockwell is gearing up for one of its oldest traditions in town: the annual Chicken Barbecue.

The dinner has been a part of the community for 50 years and counting, and is now a fundraiser for the Rockwell Aquatic Center.

Pool Board members, life guards and community volunteers will come together to host this year’s event on Sunday, August 13, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. It will be held at Zeidler Park.

This year’s menu will include half a chicken, sweet corn, potato salad, chips, a dinner roll, a cookie and a soda, for $10 a person. Meals can be eaten at the park, or ordered to go. All of the proceeds from the meals sold will go towards equipment and upgrades for the aquatic center.
