Rockwell passes updated animal control ordinance

The Rockwell City Council updated their animal control ordinance and introduced a new utility ordinance during their regular meeting on Wednesday, September 5.

At the meeting, the council held the first reading of an ordinance that would introduce a Storm Water Management Utility charge to Rockwell utility bills. The new charge would increase utility bills by $5 per month with an annual increase of two percent.

Funds generated by the new charge will go towards improvements and maintenance of the city’s storm water system, which is in need of renovation to keep storm water moving through the more flood prone areas of the community.

With 428 billing units in Rockwell, the new charge will generate a little more than $25,000 for the first year, which will steadily increase over time. After 25 years the projected rate will be $7.88 per month, bringing in $41,304 and generating an accumulated total of $822,538 over the quarter century.
