Rockwell Council welcomes new members

At their Jan 3 meeting, the Rockwell City Council swore in four new faces and discussed its aspirations under new leadership.

Mayor Michael Flatness was sworn in, along with council members Adam Wedmore, Betty Gauley, and Randy Meyer. Mayor Flatness hopes to maximize the potential of the roads, sewer, water, trees, and drainage committees in the community. In his term, the mayor hopes to increase the committees’ activeness in the council. He believes that every committee is just as important as the other, and wants them to be as functional as possible.

“Individually, each one of those committees costs us quite a bit of money […] so let’s look at what we need done down the road,” stated Flatness.

For example, the mayor is interested in drafting a three or five year budget for the paving and maintenance of local roads, instead of approaching it on a yearly basis.
