No better place: area track athletes go out with teammates

DES MOINES – Neither West Fork or Hampton-Dumont relay teams got what they wanted, but both senior anchors said they were glad to have the final experience with their teammates.

When it came to the Warhawks' 4x800, which went into the state meet with the top-seeded time, they ran almost 20 seconds back from state-qualifying to finish 16th.

"We went out and gave it our all," West Fork senior anchor Drew Engebretson said. "Today it was tough with 12 runners in one race. We got caught up in it and were a little more tired than we are used to."
