Iowa Legislators Discuss Economic Development

Five Iowa Legislators came together Friday to meet with North Iowans about the state's economic development plans.

Sen. Amanda Ragan (D) invited her colleges, Sen. William Dotzler (D) and Sen. Steve Sodders (D) to the meeting at NIACC's Muse Norris Conference Center.

Dotzler is the chair of the Senate's economic development committee and Sodders is the chair of the economic growth committee.

Also at the meeting was Majority Leader Rep. Linda Upmeyer (R) and Rep. Josh Byrnes (R), who joined their senate counterparts to offer first hand information of what is happening in the Iowa House of Representatives.

The meeting, originally scheduled for February but delayed due to winter weather, was a rare occasion to have so many visiting legislators available in one place outside the capitol. Local government leaders, economic development directors, and otherwise interested citizens attended to ask questions and provide feedback about the state's economic policies and how they are formed.
