Hindered by current vehicle, Rockwell-Swaledale EMS seeks upgrade

 

     When emergency strikes, Rockwell-Swaledale Emergency Medical Services (EMS) volunteers rush to the scene in their 2001 Chevy Suburban.

     First responders begin care, but can’t take injured people into the vehicle. This has forced them to operate in scorching heat and harsh cold while they wait for more help to arrive.

     “We are essentially treating them in the ditch or side of the road instead of a safe, climate-controlled environment,” R-S EMS director Adam Wedmore said.
