Dougherty stirs up fun for St. Patrick’s Day

Nobody went hungry in Dougherty on Saturday as the community came together for the 17th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Homemade Soup Contest.

Sponsored by American Legion Post 354, the contest featured twenty crockpots of chilies, stews, and soups for everyone to try out as people from across the state and beyond gathered in the little town for their big event.

“It went wonderfully,” said Dennis Campbell, who hosted the evening festivities. Known for bringing in celebrity judges, this year’s trio of judges included Senator Amanda Ragan, who was happy to drop in for the community gathering.

“It was so much fun,” said Ragan. “I love the way they celebrate together.”
