Community participates in walk to aid hunger relief

Area citizens broke a little sweat in the unseasonable heat to help those in need.

Church World Services, which provides hunger relief nationally and internationally, on Sunday conducted its annual, nationwide CROP Hunger Walk, which challenges communities to walk and raise money to help end hunger both at home and across the world.

Nearly 30 people affiliated with different churches and organizations in the Franklin County area gathered at First Christian Church in Hampton, bringing perishable food items for the food pantry, before departing on a three-mile walk through the Hampton Cemetery and on the Rolling Prairie Trail.
