Community packs park for fourth annual Gran Festival

A picture perfect day and a packed dance floor at times provided the perfect setting for La Luz Hispana’s fourth annual Gran Festival Saturday.

The festival returned this year with it’s annual array of musical acts and entertainment along with dozens of vendors, food stalls and games set inside Hampton’s Band Shell Park.

At one point in the afternoon, the concrete pad was filled with people dancing along to live music on the stage. Claudia Rivera, La Luz Executive Director, said that the enthusiasm of the guests, the volunteers and the entertainment is part of what makes the festival such an exciting event each year.

“It’s just amazing,” she said. “People really responded well to the music this year and started dancing and just had some fun.”

Associate director Aimee Hanson said that the attendance was about the highest she could recall over the years of the festival and said the crowd showed that the festival is something appreciated by all communities in the area.
