Collision near Rockwell results in injuries

A Rockwell man was involved in a two-vehicle accident in which he was driving down the wrong lane of Highway 65 last Friday.

Heather Fails, 47, of Mason City, was heading north on the highway at just before 11 p.m., and Fred Berger, 85, of Rockwell was southbound in the northbound lane.

According to the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff, Fails attempted to alert Berger by flashing his headlights, but no correction was made. Fails attempted to swerve out of the way, but struck Berger’s vehicle.

Both cars were totaled in the collision and both drivers sustained minor injuries.
