Cerro Gordo officials: Rural fireworks policy is unchanged

It’s that time of the year: firework policy is up for review for the Cerro Gordo County Board of Supervisors.

The board will hold a public hearing for minor language changes to the city code next week, but Cerro Gordo Planning and Zoning Administrator John Robbins says that rural Cerro Gordo communities should not expect any changes to their current fireworks restrictions.

The fireworks ordinance, Robbins stated, is unchanged except for these minor linguistic changes from when it was adopted in June of 2017.

The current ordinance “prohibits the use of consumer fireworks in the unincorporated areas of Cerro Gordo County, regulates the sale of consumer fireworks in the County and allows the Board of Supervisors to issue permits for display fireworks,” said Robbins.
